Sabine Zahn - Choreographer
2019 & 2020-2021 Sabine Zahn develops choreographic works in various formats and collaborates with other artists and people. Her focus is on the relationship between body and environment, the application of choreographic strategies to the everyday world of urban life and the articulation of these processes through mappings. Her work emerges at the intersection between artistic research, art production, urban practice and participation. She has received various grants and is part of AREAL - artistic researchlab Berlin. In 2018 she went to Medellin for the first time to physically immerse herself in a city she had heard too many stories about. |
In 2019 she went back to understand if her practice in a city with such a different background than Berlin would make sense at all, for herself and others and the place. At a lab at MAMM, supported by the IFA (Institute for Foreign Relations), it became clear what needed to be done. Extremely happy that the Global Scholarship from Berlin would finally support this 3rd and deepest step, she would be immersed in the research project "Unfolding Resonance from Within" in collaboration with FEA. It came differently... and so the "Invitation to a Practice" marks a different project start than originally planned. But already this preliminary step becomes a very joyful and productive connection over distance. It will intensify once the project can be taken up in full physical presence, hopefully sometime in 2021.
