Kirstin Burckhardt - Artist

(b. in South Africa)
is an installation artist working with sound, film and drawings. She studied fine arts at the Hochschule für Bildende Künste (HFBK) in Hamburg, at the China Academy of Art Hangzhou (CAA), and the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts de Lyon (ENSBA). She earned her MFA at the HFBK, as well as her BSc and MSc in psychology at the University of Hamburg. Her work has been honored by the Studienstiftung des deutschen Volkes (2008–2015), by her admission to the postgraduate program ‘Goldrausch’ in Berlin (2016) and most recently by the city of Hamburg’s working grant (2017).

is the name the 8-week artist-in-recidency of Kirstin Burckhardt at the Fundación Espacio Arte who is researching, in conversation with Brenda Steinecke, the concept of 'Body Ownership' and its relationship with the sense of vulnerability in public spaces of Medellín.
