Centro Adentro
Documentary Exploration on Framing and the Body
2018
The documentary exploration Centro Adentro is a collaborative work between cinematographer Oscar Molina and choreographer Brenda I. Steinecke Soto. This project was born out of long conversation about their independent projects related to the sense of house/home understood as rootedness/centre in a globalized world (Oscar Molina) and the body/centre as starting point for a reflection on politics and sprituality in an always changing social and physical context (Brenda I. Steinecke Soto).
During one year and a half Oscar Molina and Brenda I. Steinecke shot in a house under construction which offered a changing environment for the camera framing the architecture and the body exploring the space in terms of habitabliity. Centro Adentro explores the idea of 'framing' as an ordering principle. The documentary translates the process in which 'framing' and 'controling' transforms itself into an 'action' of the scene by including the body of 'the framer/observer' into the movement of the 'observed body'. Dancing as a way of looking into the world, deveiling visual qualities unremarked.
